Electrical Measurement Safety

Your meter is between you and the electricity:

  • While you may be wearing the required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for the hazard level you are working in, some people overlook the level of protection in their meter.  

 

 

Electrical Testers and Meters are Safety Rated for:

  • ​Location: How close are the circuits you are working on to where the utility power is connected to the building? 

  • Fault Current: If you short out what you are working on, how many amps can flow before a breaker trips or a fuse blows?
  • Voltage Level: How high is the voltage you are working on?
